چکیده

A pot experiment was laid out at Sri Karan Narendra College of Agriculture, Jobner in 2015 during kharif season using cowpea as a test crop to study the influence soil salinity, phosphorus sources and biofertilizers on yield total nutrient uptake by (Vigna unguiculata L.). The tested completely randomized design which three levels each salinity (EC 1.22, 4.0 6.0 dS/m), (single super phosphate, di ammonium phosphate rich organic manure) (control, solubilizing bacteria + vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza) were used with replications. experimental data showed that 1.22 dS/m) recorded significantly higher comparison other treatments. But nitrogen content lowest EC dS/m. Result further revealed source manure maximum over rest Furthermore, seed inoculation mycorrhiza It’s concluded combination dS/m Biofertilizers (phosphorus found superior all these parameters control.

Recent advances in cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L

After decades of research on cowpea, significant amount of omics datasets are available and useful in understanding the genetic relationship between Vigna unguiculata ssp. unguiculata and other species belonging to the same genus as well as its genetic variation. Besides, the development of genetic map allowed the chromosome localization of molecular markers associated with disease resistance, ...

Petroleum Products in Soil Mediated Oxidative Stress in Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) and Maize (Zea mays) Seedlings

The effects of petroleum products (kerosene, diesel, engine oil and petrol) treatment of soil at various sublethal concentrations (0.0%, 0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) on oxidative stress markers (lipid peroxidation, superoxide dismutase activity, catalase activity and xanthine oxidase) were studied in cowpea and maize seedlings. The results indicated that the petroleum products caused...

Imazethapyr Effects on Soil Enzyme Activity and Nutrient Uptake by Weeds and Greengram (Vigna radiata L.)

Imazethapyr is a broad spectrum herbicide used as early post-emergence in pulses, oilseeds and leguminous crops. Imazethapyr is an imidazole compound used as a selective herbicide. The compound controls weeds by reducing the levels of three branched-chain aliphatic amino acids, isoleucine, leucine and valine, through the inhibition of aceto-lactate synthase (ALS), an enzyme common to the biosyn...

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp.) Metabolomics: Osmoprotection as a Physiological Strategy for Drought Stress Resistance and Improved Yield

Plants usually tolerate drought by producing organic solutes, which can either act as compatible osmolytes for maintaining turgor, or radical scavengers for protecting cellular functions. However, these two properties of organic solutes are often indistinguishable during stress progression. This study looked at individualizing properties of osmotic adjustment vs. osmoprotection in plants, using...
